Hey guys,
last english lesson we were talking about corporate social responsibility and we were listening to opinions of some business people regarding CSR.
Basically what they say is that CSR has advantages and disadvantages for different companies.
The first speaker's opinion on corporate social responsibility is that CSR can have many positive impacts on a business. One of them is to enhance the reputation of a company.
An other business man says that it's especially for companies, which are fighting for surviving, difficult to afford the necessary resources for CSR. So, CSR is very well for the very big companies with lots of money but a big disadvantage for small businesses.
One more opinion was that CSR is essential to get talented and high qualified employees and that CSR is also important for potential employees to apply for a job. He also mentioned that CSR policy can improve staff perception of a business and motivate employees through fundraising activities.
In my mind the austrian business people think positive about CSR, because in local business it's usual to donate money for local organisations for their festivals or activities.
So, I think that CSR policy should be made by every company, because they will improve their reputation owing to the methods of CSR like using fair trade products to create goods or ensuring that no animal testing takes place anywhere in their supply chain or using less energy and fuel.
See you!

business idea
Hey guys,
last english lesson we were talking about business ideas and how to start a own business.
So I thought you might be interested in my business idea.
If I have enough many in my life I will found my own company and my business idea is to produce automatical and electric snow chains which are installed above the tires of a car. The customer only have to push a button on the steering wheel to drop the chains on the tire treads. The chains have claws so they can include the tires automatically. The biggest problem is that the drivers have to put the chains in their boxes by hand.
One of the important things before starting a business is to analyze the market and to do some research if there are any competitors.
So what are you business ideas?
See you
Patrick

Half of all new cars in Norway are now electric or hybrid
I was reading an article some
time ago in the World and Press Business magazine and
it talks about the electricity policy of Norway. I thought you might be interested because electricity policy is
a current topic.
Basically, what it says is that half
of all new registered cars in Norway are electric or hybrid.
The first thing that is mentioned is
that 51% of the new registrations in 2017 were electric or hybrid cars.
Norway also has the highest per capita number of all electric cars in the
world. The author reported that the transport sector is one of the biggest
challenges for climate policy. One of the goals of the government is to reduce
the CO2 emissions to 40 % until 2030. The government of Norway also agreed to
ban the sale of gasoline and diesel motorized cars starting in 2025. So, they
will reduce carbon dioxide emissions of new cars to 85 grams per kilometre by
2020. What puzzled me most was that this
goal has almost achieved.
In my opinion to
ban the gasoline and diesel powered cars wouldn’t be able to pass through,
because some people don’t have so much money to buy such an expansive electric
car. But if the car industry reduces the price for an electric motorized car it
will be possible to implement this agreement.
So what do you think
about the electricity and climate policy of Norway?

Fair trade graphs
last english lesson we were talking about fairtrade statistics, so now I will talk about this fairtrade graphic.
This graphic mentions that 3 of every 4 people in the world live in rural areas. Rural areas are developing countries. In those countries 2.1 billion people have an income less than 2 $ per day and 880 million people earn less than 1 $ per day. Those people are depending on agriculture. So fairtrade helps to increase the income.

history of Thanksgiving
Hey guys,
last week at school we were talking about the history of thanksgiving. So now I will tell you the story.
In fall of 1620 a ship, called mayflower, had an accident near the american coast. The ship with 120 passengers crashed with a rock, so they had to settle down throughout the winter. The pilgrims didn't know how to grow fruits and vegetables and how to hunt, so they were very hungry. In spring the pilgrims met a native american, who learned them how to grow and hunt. After this the pilgrims organized a meal as thanks for the help of the american. This meal was tasting so good that they decided to organize this every year on the last thursday of november. Now in the USA this day is an official holiday and the traditional food at the evening of Thanksgiving is a Turkey.
A new tradition in the USA is to go shopping on friday after Thanksgiving. This special day is called "black friday" and there are a lot of discount in the stores all over the world. Some crazy people sleep in front of stores to be first in and get the cheepest articles.
So what are you thinking about Thanksgiving and what's your experiences?
I hope you got some new information about Thanksgiving.
See you!

Valentine's Day
Hey guys,
on the 14th of february we were talking about Valentine's Day and there are some companies which make much money in that week. The companies are producing and selling chocolate, jewellery and flowers. I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day, because in my opinion this day is only a marketing gag from the USA. On average, Americans are expected to spend $130.97 for celebrating with partners. I think it's way too much. I wouldn't spend so much money for Valentine's Day.
What's your opinion about Valentine's Day?
